Samuel E. Edusa, MD is a physician and software engineer who bridges clinical practice and technology. An internal medicine physician with over a decade of clinical experience and 8+ years as a software engineer, he builds AI-driven healthcare tools that reduce physician burnout while preserving the human elements of care.

Through his Epic & Clinical Informatics work at SGMC Health, he designed a hospital-wide Physician Communication note type, optimized tube-feed order sets and built SmartPhrases for the nutrition team, standardized resident documentation templates for H&P, progress, and discharge notes, and trained first-year residents on the Epic ASAP emergency module.
His projects include clinical decision tools such as the Acute HF Predischarge Risk Calculator, PCA Calculator, DCPlanner, and ACPeri Tool; documentation utilities like NoteClean and DotPhrase Search; and platforms including the Azalea Report residency newsletter and the SGMC Resident Guide.
ConsultChain is his research preprint, “Progressive Context Distillation Across Heterogeneous LLM Fleets for Token-Optimal Inference,” which explores routing inference across multiple large language models for token-optimal performance — reflecting his focus on agentic AI systems.
